WHY ISIAKA ADELEKE’S DEATH LED TO PROTEST IN EDE

WHY ISIAKA ADELEKE’S DEATH LED TO PROTEST IN EDE

The residence of Senator Isiaka Adeleke at his home town, Ede in Osun State, was usually full of people at all times when the senator was alive, always by commoners as well as top personalities from in and around the state.
Even after his sudden death last Sunday, the residence has continued to receive huge crowds, but now the mood of the visitors is different. As they trooped in after his death, mourners wailed in agonising voices and sobbed uncontrollably. They rained curses on the supposed killers of their benefactor, and were even ready to mob any individual perceived to be in dispute with Senator Adeleke as they suspected that he was killed because of his ambition to contest in next year’s governorship election in the state.

Apparently, the late senator’s unfulfilled missions and expectations of constituents justified the grief of mourners. Expectations were high around him. While some top politicians were hoping that Adeleke, who was the first civilian governor in the state, would become the governor again, his horde of supporters at the grassroots were waiting for a date for the distribution of empowerment items he had earlier bought for them, only to suddenly hear of his death.
Inside a hall in the home of the late politician were many motorcycles, grinding machines and hair dryers among other items ready for distribution to the people for empowerment, and those that expected to benefit were waiting anxiously for the d-day. But the good news never came, and they found the rather unbelievable news of his death too sad to bear.
Our correspondent gathered that hundreds of people depended on the late Adeleke for survival, while many politicians in the state relied on him for relevance in politics. Unarguably, the sudden death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke is seen as a huge calamity for majority of people of the state.
The death sent tongues wagging because of the suddenness. Some of his political supporters became violent because they believed he was killed. The news of his death triggered protests in Ede, where the Osogbo-Gbongon highway was blocked for several hours before policemen dispersed the protesters.

So shocked and angry were his constituents that his corpse which had been prepared for burial the day he died in accordance with Islamic rites, had to wait till the following day as his family insisted on an autopsy to determine the cause of death. After the post-mortem at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo, he was finally interred beside the mosque he built in his compound.
Many of his supporters are not pleased with Governor Rauf Aregbesola as they accused him of not supporting his ambition to succeed him next year. The mourners also accused Aregbesola of rather promoting one of his aides who also hails from Ede, Mrs Yidiat Babalola, with a plan to reduce Adeleke’s influence in the town.
Mourners at the burial descended on Yidiat and almost lynched her, but for  the intervention of Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State who helped to rescue the woman from the scene. The mourners and attackers said she was greedy and betrayed the late senator.  But Yidiat said her attackers picked on her over unfounded rumours that she wanted to be deputy governor.
Adeleke was elected the first civilian governor of the state in 1992 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party after the creation of Osun State which from the old Oyo State.  The late legislator was representing Osun West Senatorial district before he passed on at the age of 62.
He was a two-time senator. First elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he represented Osun West between 2007 and 2011. He was re-elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

We bear no grudge against anyone-Family

The younger brother of the late senator, Dr Deji Adeleke, has said that the family had not accused anyone over the death of Senator Adeleke.
His words: “We are in serious pain over the sudden death of our brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke and we are not happy with the way people are speculating about his death on the social media. We couldn’t bury him the day he died despite that he was a Muslim and it was because we needed to determine the cause of his death. That was why we conducted the autopsy before he was eventually buried the following day but the result of the autopsy is not ready yet.”
Dr Adeleke also appealed to the youths in Ede not to harass innocent people on the pretext of mourning Senator Adeleke. He added that his brother was a peaceful man and should not be mourned in a violent manner.
“Doctors said it would take a couple of weeks for the result to come out because it is a comprehensive analysis. We therefore appeal to those speculating on the social media about the cause of the death to desist. Let us mourn Senator Isiaka Adeleke peacefully because he was a very peaceful man who never encouraged violence during his lifetime. We are not accusing anyone and there is no basis for attacking innocent people. We urge his supporters to remain calm and mourn him in a peaceful manner.”

WHY I DIDN’T MARRY PASUMA — RONKE ODUSANYA, AKA FLAKKY IDIDOWO

WHY I DIDN’T MARRY PASUMA — RONKE ODUSANYA, AKA FLAKKY IDIDOWO

Actress Ronke Odusanya a.k.a Flakky Ididowo
Actress Ronke Odusanya (a.k.a Flakky Ididowo), had a chat with Sunday Spice on her relationship with fuji musician Pasuma. Back then they were so in love that Pasuma said he was sure they would get married at the right time. But it didn’t happen. Ronke has opened up on what happened:
Marriage
Being in the limelight has it disadvannewses. One of the demerits of being in the limelight is that one finds it difficult to find true love. You can’t tell if that man or woman loves you for who you are or because you are a celebrity. I will get married when God says it is my time. My time has yet to come and that is why I am still single. Anyone who rushes into marriage will definitely rush out, so I am taking my time. Unlike it was speculated sometime ago, I have never been married.
Relationship with Pasuma
Not all relationships lead to marriage and such was my relationship with Pasuma. Even though we are no longer dating, we are still good friends. The fact that we are both celebrities may have been responsible for our inability to get married. A lot of times, celebrity marriages don’t work out because both parties are in the limelight. This breeds a lot of distrust and problems in the marriage.
Physique
People say I have a provocative figure but I did not create myself. When I was younger, people used to taunt me and I would cry. Over time, I have come to love my body irrespective of whether I have unusually large breasts or buttocks. When I walk on the streets of Lagos, men look at me in a seductive manner but I don’t care as long as I am not indecently dressed. In fact, some people scream obscenities at me. Some call me Cowbell and I either laugh it off or just ignore them.

ADEKUNLE GOLD IS NO LONGER UNDER OLAMIDE’S YBNL?

ADEKUNLE GOLD IS NO LONGER UNDER OLAMIDE’S YBNL?

There are strong indications that Adekunle Gold is no longer in terms with his YBNL Nation Boss, Olamide.

A recent check on Adekunle Gold ‘s  Instagram page shows that he has deleted all Olamide’s pictures.
Adekunle Gold’s contract with YBNL expired in December 2016, and there seems to be talks of him Renewing but we don’t think he did renewed his contract but only signed Management deal with Olamide’s Led YBNL.

We noticed all YBNL Nation signed acts have posted Olamide’s new song “Love No Go Die” artwork on their page since yesterday and still there on their various pages
Adekunle Gold eventually posted the Artwork on his Instagram page and after a few hours he deleted it off his page.
Finally, we took a tour to his official website ‘Adekunlegold.com’ and we could not find any trace of YBNL, it was not mentioned on his ‘About me’ section too.

NIGERIA EFCC FOUNDS $43M IN LAGOS IN A ROOM

NIGERIA EFCC FOUNDS $43M IN LAGOS IN A ROOM

More than $43m (£34m) has been seized from a flat in Nigeria's main city, Lagos, the anti-corruption agency says.

Officials raided the flat after a tip-off about a "haggard-looking" woman in "dirty clothes" taking bags in and out of it, the agency added.
The money was believed to be from unlawful activity, but no arrests have as yet been made, the agency added.
This is the latest in a series of raids which uncovered bundles of cash in Nigeria, Africa's biggest economy.
In March, the agency said it had found "crispy" banknotes worth $155,000 (£130,000) at the airport in northern Kaduna city.

Apart from US notes worth $43.4m, investigators found nearly £27,800 and some 23m naira ($75,000) at the four-bedroom flat in Lagos's affluent Ikoyi area, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said in a statement.
The "neatly arranged" cash was stashed in "sealed wrappers" in wardrobes and cabinets in the seventh-floor flat, the EFCC added.
Guards told investigators that no-one lived in the flat, but a source reported that a "woman usually appeared on different occasions with Ghana Must Go bags", the EFCC said.
"She comes looking haggard, with dirty clothes but her skin didn't quite match her outward appearance, perhaps a disguise," it quoted a source as saying.
POLICE GUN DOWN NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT IN ONDO STATE

POLICE GUN DOWN NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT IN ONDO STATE

The police in Ondo State have killed a notorious armed robbery suspect simply known as Gani. Some residents of  Owo town in Owo local government area of the state said Gani had been terrorizing them for months.
The late Gani, who was also known as "Elese," was shot dead Thursday afternoon at one of his hideouts named "Jugbere Camp". The hideout was near a farm settlement and close to a forest reserve.
A mobile police officer who confirmed the news to SaharaReporters said some police officers from the Owo police station killed the wanted gangster in a surprise operation carried out in commando-style.
He disclosed the officers who shot Gani were mostly detectives from the anti-robbery squad in the "A" Divisional Police Station in the Owo area of the state.
A resident in the area, Segun Alake, told SaharaReporters that a group of local vigilantes helped detectives in the community to chase after the notorious hoodlum before he was killed in an exchange of gunfire.
The source disclosed that Gani was also suspected of being a hitman for a well known cult group and had been on the police watchlist for several murder cases and various violent crimes.
"Gani and his group of fleeing members, who were mostly cultists, had been terrorizing the peace of the local communities in Owo," said Mr. Alake.
Another resident, Adebola Adebimbe, also told SaharaReporters that there was wild jubilation in Owo town shortly after news spread about that the alleged ferocious gangster had been killed.
Ms. Adebimbe, who owns a business on Ijebu Road in Owo, said the late Gani once sent his members to burglarize her cosmetic shop in November, 2016. She alleged that the gang stole goods worth hundreds of thousands of naira.
"We (residents) have visited the police station to have a glimpse of the dead body of the notorious cult member," she said.
Also police spokesman, Femi Joseph, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, confirmed the gangster's death.
Mr. Joseph said the feared gang leader was gunned down by the police following a tip off from members of the local community.
"The notorious armed robber was well known as Gani Elese by many residents of Owo and he was killed this afternoon by our officers," said the officer. He added, "During the operation, which lasted for several hours, our officers engaged the services of some local vigilantes to track down the notorious gangster.
"He was shot dead while he and other members of his gang were trying to escape from the police." The police spokesman disclosed that some other members of the gang ran away with bullet wounds.
"The police have asked residents in the local community to furnish officers with useful information regarding the fleeing members," the police spokesman told SaharaReporters.

AHMED MUSA GOT ARRESTED FOR BEATING HIS WIFE

AHMED MUSA GOT ARRESTED FOR BEATING HIS WIFE

Nigerian international Ahmed Musa was arrested at 1am on Wednesday in response to a domestic abuse complaint.

Neighbours of the Leicester City forward told The Sun that Musa was picked up by plain-clothed police officers.
The officers reportedly spent two hours taking a statement from his wife, Jamila, before leaving with Musa.
Musa was held on suspicion of common assault. After being questioned, he was released without charge.
“A 24-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning at his home address near Leicester on suspicion of common assault,” said a spokesperson for Leicestershire police.
A neighbour told The Sun that, “Ahmed is a nice guy. He always has a friendly smile. I don’t know anything about his private life”.
Musa signed a four-year contract worth £16m with Leicester in July 2016, making him the Foxes record signing at the time.
He has started only seven league games this season. He lost his place when Claudio Ranieri was sacked and Craig Shakespeare took over the reins at Leicester.
A Leicester City spokesperson told the Daily Star that “Musa cooperated with a police inquiry” regarding a disturbance in his house.
“The inquiry has since been closed and no further action is to be taken. We see no reason for formal action internally, though Ahmed will be given the opportunity to discuss the matter with football management when the squad returns,” said the spokesperson.
Musa and his wife Jamila have two young children together, Ahmed Jnr and Halima.
They live in the city’s Countesthorpe area.
The Super Eagles striker was not included in Leicester’s squad against Sunderland on Tuesday.

MTN PAYS ANOTHER N30BILLION TO NIGERIA

MTN PAYS ANOTHER N30BILLION TO NIGERIA

MTN has paid N30 billion to the federal government as part settlement of a N330 billion fine imposed on the telecoms group for failing to disconnect unregistered SIM cards, Reuters said quoting a source.

Having paid N80 billion in December, the current payment brings the amount paid out of the fine to N110 billion.
The fine is due for payment in six instalments over three years, MTN.
MTN Nigeria was originally fined $5.2 billion last October for failing to deactivate more than five million unregistered SIM cards, but the fine was reduced in a settlement that paved the way for MTN to list its subsidiary on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
MTN, which operates in 20 countries, had set aside $600 million last year to pay the fine.
Two months after making the first payment from the fine, MTN Group declared its first full-year loss, blaming it on the fine.
Negotiations on payment of the fine lasted eight months, which saw both parties going in and out of the courts.
